Special Needs Adoption Grants
Brittany’s Hope believes in the fundamental right of all children to have the security and love of a family. There are an estimated 153 million orphans living around the world. (UNICEF-02/2011) These staggering statistics are heartbreaking and overwhelming considering a large number of these children are special needs, who have little or no value in the eyes of their own country. They are left to languish in institutions, where they receive minimal care and live hopeless, helpless lives.

The cost of international adoption can be overwhelming and is only further compounded by the medical costs a special needs child presents. The Seedling Gift Program provides grant monies while giving families the opportunity to assist Brittany's Hope in raising funds so that the next child may also be united with their forever family. The phrase "It takes a village to raise a child" takes on new meaning as the "seeds" of the adoptive family's friends, family, and neighbors take root and help provide families with adoption grants. With a gift to Brittany's Hope Foundation, a donor's monetary support of the Seedling Gift program means double for the adoptive family.

Grant Eligibility
We rely heavily on our affiliate adoption agencies to help us find both children and families who would benefit from a Seedling Gift grant. We only have three stipulations that indicate eligibility.
  • AFFILIATE ADOPTION AGENCIES
We work closely with a group of adoption agencies who share our mission to find a family for every waiting child. Because of our close relationship with these agencies, we only offer grants on children being adopted through our affiliates.

  • SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
Newborns, both domestically and internationally, often times have a list of families waiting to take them home. Children considered special needs are instead put on a list and forgotten. The Seedling Gift Program was designed to offer families considering a special needs child grant money in order to help reduce the overwhelming adoption and medical expenses associated with their adoption.

  • INTERNATIONAL ADOPTIONS
International adoption is very expensive and there isn’t nearly the financial assistance made available to those adopting domestically. Our grants are therefore only available to families adopting internationally.
Do you meet our eligibility requirements? Speak with your adoption agency or submit an
Adoption Grant Inquiry, which we will forward to your agency for you.

Grant Requirements
We enjoy watching the children we grant come home to their forever family. Actually, we can’t get enough of it and that’s why we still do what we do! Once a family becomes part of our program, we expect a few things from them.
  • PAY IT FORWARD
The most important and sustainable part of the Seedling Gift Program is that we ask our recipient families to raise half of their total grant amount to help future families bring their child home.

This goal can be reached through tax deductible donations from family, friends, colleagues, neighbors or individuals from your local community.

We provide each family with a set of customized fundraising tools that will help them to meet their goal.

  • CHILD AND FAMILY PHOTOS
To help us become familiar with our recipient families and the children they are adopting, we ask that each family submit a casual photo of their family prior to their adoption and then an additional one with their adopted child once they are home.

  • FAMILY PROFILE
We consider our recipient families part of our extended family, so we want to get to know them a little bit. The family profile is a brief online form that helps us understand the families current adoption and who they are as a family.

  • THANK YOU LETTER
Our Board of Directors and dedicated staff work very hard to provide families with grants. We ask that, post adoption, the family submit a thank you letter that we can share with our supporters to prove our efforts fruitful.
Ready to meet the challenge? Speak with your adoption agency or submit an
Adoption Grant Inquiry, which we will forward to your agency for you.
