What does the $35 or $50 provide for my sponsored child?
  • Currently, Brittany's Hope offers two different types of sponsorships:
    • $35 General Sponsorship: Geared towards younger children living in impoverished orphanages that require all of the basic necessities for survival. Your $35 donation provides:
      • Food: Includes nutritious meals daily, clean water and appropriate snacks.
      • Shelter: Your sponsorship helps provide a safe living environment.
      • General Care: Provides a staff of Sisters to take care of and love the children.
      • Medical Care: Consistant health checks and emergency medical treatment.
      • Clothing: Clothing is often shared and passed down through the children.
      • Education: Includes school supplies and transportation to and from school.
    • $50 Higher Education Sponsorship: Assists older children by providing their basic necessities and an education that helps prepare them for a bright future.
      • Food: Includes nutritious meals daily, clean water and appropriate snacks.
      • Shelter: Your sponsorship helps provide a safe living environment.
      • General Care: Provides a staff of Sisters to take care of and love the children.
      • Medical Care: Consistant health checks and emergency medical treatment.
      • Clothing: Clothing is often shared and passed down through the children.
      • Education: Includes tuition to higher education or technical training schools.
What can I expect to receive as a child sponsor?
  • A yearly, sponsorship specific, newsletter that gives information and current events about the orphanage, the children, and the sisters.
  • A bi-annual child update including; a recent photo (if available), updated information (school, health and personality), video (if available) and letters from the children.
  • Opportunities to correspond with your child(ren) via letter, gift or video (see next item).
  • Invitations to special events to meet the children via webcam.
  • End of year thank you from Brittany's Hope indicating a total donation for tax purposes..
What are the payment options available to sponsors?
  • We have three options available to sponsors for making payments:
    • Monthly: The most common option, payments can be submitted using donation slips (provided for you by Brittany's Hope) or by automatic monthly credit (call 717.367.9614 to setup recurring billing).
    • Bi-Annually: You can opt to submit your payments two times per year at rates of $210 or $300 depending on your sponsorship type.
    • Annually: We also accept payments to cover an entire year of sponsorship at rates of $420 or $600 depending on your sponsorship type.
Are the sponsored children educated?
  • Yes, regardless of your sponsorship type, the children attend school daily. Younger children are sent to public schools close to the orphanage. Older children and sent to higher education facilities or technical training schools.
Do the sponsored children attend church?
  • Yes, the children accompany the sisters to church every morning before school and on Sundays. The children are looked after by Sisters of the church and therefore are brought up with a spiritual foundation. However, as part of our agreement with the Vietnamese government, we are NOT allowed to encourage or facilitate the advocacy of religion within Vietnam. Therefore we respectfully request that our sponsors consider these restrictions when contacting the children.
Will I be able to continue sponsoring the same child(ren) throughout their childhood?
  • We encourage sponsors to build a relationship with their sponsored child(ren) and will do everything in our power to ensure that you continue sponsoring the same child(ren). However, due to country and orphanage restrictions, parental rights and health concerns it isn't always possible for certain children to remain in our care. When we are notified that a child has left the orphanage or is no longer available for sponsorship, we will contact you directly and discuss alternate sponsorship options and, of course, understand if you aren't interested in sponsoring a different child.
What options are available for contacting my sponsored child(ren)?
  • As part of the relationship between you and your sponsored child(ren), we hope to offer you as many oppotunities to stay in contact as possible. Right now we have three different types of communication available to sponsors:
    • Send an Online Letter: At any time and as often as you would like, you can Submit an Online Letter with a picture that will be forwarded directly to our Vietnam Program Director for translation and then to the House of Love. This option requires no postage and is the fastest form of communication with your sponsored child.
    • Send a Letter via Postal Mail: If you would prefer to hand write a letter or would like to include something small, the letter must be mailed to Brittany's Hope who will then forward it on to Vietnam. There are no restrictions on when or how often you can mail a letter to your child, however sending international mail can be very expensive so we respectfully request that you make a donation to the foundation in the amount of the postage needed to mail your letter. We will notify you shortly after receiving your letter as to the estimated price.
    • Send a Package: Brittany's Hope makes regular trips to Vietnam for various reasons. Typically we will visit the House of Love twice per year, at which times we are happy to take packages for the children along with us. We send packages along as luggage so that we eliminate the need for overly expensive international postage. You may mail or drop off packages at Brittany's Hope anytime while understanding that the package will not be taken to Vietnam until our next trip over. We will notify you by email before each scheduled trip to encourage packages.
Can I send gifts to my sponsored child(ren)?
  • Of course, we encourage both letters and packages. Brittany's Hope makes regular trips to Vietnam for various reasons. Typically we will visit the House of Love twice per year, at which times we are happy to take packages for the children along with us. We send packages along as luggage so that we eliminate the need for overly expensive international postage. You may mail or drop off packages at Brittany's Hope anytime while understanding that the package will not be taken to Vietnam until our next trip over. We will notify you by email before each scheduled trip to encourage packages.
Can I ship items or letters directly to my sponsored child(ren)?
  • For the children's saftey, we cannot share the House of Love's direct address with our sponsors. We are happy to forward on any mail or packages you would like to send to your sponsored child(ren).
What are the size regulations for packages?
  • We attempt to save money by sending packages with staff members when they travel to Vietnam rather than sending packes via postal mail. Because staff members are limited to the space in their suitcase, we respectfully request that packages be within the dimensions of a typical shoe box. Loose items are accepted, but please label each item to indicate your sponsored child's name or number.
What countries are sponsorships available in?
  • Currently sponsorships are only available in Vietnam at the House of Love orphanage in Cam Ranh and Street Children Center in Da Nang. Children from our Orphan Care Village in Injibara, Ethiopia will be available for sponsorship in mid-2011.
