Frequently Asked Questions

We want to adopt a child. How do we qualify for a grant?

There are two ways to receive a grant from our foundation:
  1. If you are homestudy ready, you could choose one of our waiting sponsored children. If you are approved by the placing affiliate agency, then you qualify for the grant after signing our Parents' Pledge.
  2. You could also request your agency to apply to us to become an affiliate agency. If they are accepted as an affiliate, they are invited to submit waiting children for grant sponsorship by our foundation.
If you have already selected and been officially matched with a child, then your child is no longer eligible for a grant consideration. Remember that our work is centered on children who do not yet have interested families. We truly believe this to be the direction that God wishes us to work.

We are interested in one of your granted children. How do we begin the process?

You begin the process by contacting either Brittany's Hope Foundation or the placing affiliate adoption agency directly to inquire about the granted waiting child. Remember that agencies prefer to share personal information regarding their waiting children only with serious inquiries from homestudy-ready families. This is done to protect the privacy of the waiting child.

What does "special needs" or "waiting children" mean?

Special needs refers to children who are especially difficult for agencies to place with families. They may be physically challenged, carry unsightly scars or marks, or be classified as special needs from a traumatic birth. They may simply be older than the desirable toddler age or part of a sibling group that needs placement together. They may also be healthy children born with the stigma of rape or a family history of mental illness.

How does Brittany's Hope advocate for waiting children?

Our foundation uses grants as a way of advocating for children who are desperately waiting for a family. We are child-centered and do not offer grants to families in the process of adopting a child, rather we place money on waiting children (submitted to us by affiliate agencies) in the hopes of getting potential families interested in a granted child. Any family who would choose the child would potentially be eligible for the grant, once approved by the affiliate agency. There is no income-qualifying part to the acceptance of the grant; however, we require our recipient families to participate in Circle of Caring events such as our annual Walk of Love. In this way, recipient families carry on the cycle of love through their heartfelt gift of their time.

What does the hope in Brittany's Hope stand for?

The light that lives within every life is a gift granted by God, regardless of color, disabilities, social standing or nationality. Our hope is that others will feel the call to protect and nurture the light of God's littlest lives, either through adoption or donation. Today our foundation's symbol stands for the extraordinary garden of hope that grows within the protective power of love. Hope for the endless potential that these beautiful children possess, hope for victory over despair, and hope for the blessed joy of a family. We wish you God's guidance and wisdom as you begin your adoption journey!
