![]() This little girl was found outside of the orphanage on March 21, 2001. She was diagnosed with Hepatitis B. At 2 to 3 years of age it was noticed that she was closed off and refused to talk to others. She wanted to play alone and restricted herself to only certain activities and toys. When they tried to change her environment or encourage her to participate in group activities she was unwilling to comply. As a result the special education teacher gave her special guidance. Gradually her temperament improved and she started to play with other kids. After turning 5 years old her personality improved and she began to play with her close friends. They would play blocks together. She can dress and undress, eat and go to the bathroom by herself. She imitates others doing exercises. She enjoys going outside. Following a caretaker she can go up and down the stairs and play on the swings and slide with other kids. She understands adult words and gestures and can complete various requested tasks. She is still not very good at expressing herself, other than some simple phrases she is unwilling to talk much. She has a bright smile and is now quite active and has a variety of facial expressions.
