Abbey and Winnie
I have found my forever family!
Abbey (left) and Winnie (right) are a very special sibling group of sisters who are only a year apart in age. Abbey and Winnie come from a family with history of severe alcoholism. Abbey was born in 2003 with cerebral palsy. Abbey can sit by herself, but cannot stand or walk. It is unknown if Abbey will ever be able to walk. Today Abbey exhibits extreme psychomotor delays as well as cognitive and speech delays. Abbey's special need is twofold with both physical and developmental delays and will require ongoing intensive physical and speech therapy. Winnie was born in 2004 with symptoms of hypoxia. In addition Winnie has problems with muscle tone and it is suspected of having infantile cerebral palsy. She is able to stand and walk with some difficulty. Winnie also has hypertonus which increases her state of emotional exitation. We recently received an update on Winnie and although the sisters attend speech therapy together, Winnie's cognitive development has not improved. These precious girls need a family that is open to long-term physical and speech therapy. We think these girls will thrive in a nurturing, loving environment if only they can find a family.
