Waiting Children: Latin America
Molly
Molly has been in foster care since 2004. She went back and forth to her grandmother but then came back again to stay in 2006, when the grandmother became ill. She came into care very neglected, suffering with severe dermatitis and infection. Molly was born premature, weighing 5 lbs. Her birthmother was 18 years old and did not receive prenatal care. Molly is a happy and spontaneous little girl. Although her report does not diagnose her with Fetal Alcohol effects, she does have some of the classic signs. She has a smaller head size, low weight but proportionate, low ears, and thin lips. Molly is a stubborn little girl who sometimes does not respect authority. Her foster mother is working on this along with her behavior.
She learns easily, but has poor language skills. Her independent skills are low but her foster mother continues to work on these.
