We believe there is no substitute for the care of a family, even in the best of facilities. Over 8 million orphaned children living in institutions are denied love and supported family interactions. Life without a daily warm embrace or compassionate words of affirmation leaves vulnerable children without a firm emotional foundation, especially those deemed to be special needs. Brittany’s Hope believes all children deserve the basic right to grow up in a nurturing family environment and be a part of society.
We work relentlessly on building a bridge to unite children with special needs to families with open hearts to adopt but are burdened by the substantial fees associated with inter-country adoption. Working with our affiliate agencies, we provide financial adoption assistance to make adoptions possible for some of the most high risk-children.

What Are Special Needs?
In the spectrum of international adoption, children with ‘special needs’ are those deemed difficult to place due to their age, physical or mental handicap, and sibling groups. Children with more specialized needs are at a greater risk for dependence- therefore, there are a disproportionate number of children with special needs who are abandoned.

The Sims Family
We are Shane and Yanin Sims. Our family consists of our daughter Addyson, our son Max, and our son Sebastien. In 2018, we traveled to China to bring Max home, and we knew then, that our journey with adoption was not done yet! God called us to this path. In 2020, we started the process of adopting our daughter in China, but unfortunately, COVID-19 hit, and China closed its doors. We cannot go get her, but we are still waiting. At the beginning of 2022, we started talking about doing something else, not just waiting for Sophie to come home, so we decided to bring another sweet girl home, and decided to adopt Gianna from Colombia. We cannot wait to bring her home and give her all the love and care she deserves.

Hello! Our names are Mike and Melissa. We have been together as a couple for eleven years now, married nearly eight. Prior to marriage and starting a family, we both traveled extensively. In fact, both of us can trace our desire to adopt back to experiences we had abroad. We feel extremely grateful for what we have been given in life and what to share our many blessings with our daughter, Diya. We were matched with Diya last December and were immediately struck by her warm and curious nature. We are so excited to bring her home and welcome her into our family!

To be eligible for a grant from Brittany’s Hope, you must meet these three criteria.

Adopting a child from a country other than the
United States.
Special Needs
Adopting a child who has been designated
special needs.
Affiliate Agency
Your placing agency must be one of
our affiliates.
Adoption costs can be frightening! Brittany’s Hope never wants finances to stand in the way
of uniting a child with their forever family – which is why we offer adoption grants.
You must already be actively engaged with a partner agency.
